I was always a big fan of Bach’s music, and also a big fan of the French Manouche music (i.e., Gypsy jazz). Today, I got this silly idea to combine the two styles by amalgamating the famous theme song from the movie “Midnight in Paris” with Bach's Violin Concerto in E Major BWV 1042 (Allegro Assai). Both pieces are in the key of E, however the tempo, the meter, and the temperament differ significantly.
Since this is my first stab at this kind of an experiment, I’d like to ask you to please forgive the flubbed notes — there is so much to take in while playing those intricate pieces, and I find it quite challenging to pull it off without glitches. But both pieces are a great way to practice various positions on the guitar neck, as well as a great way to practice string skipping on the guitar.
Let me know how does this experiment strike you.
