When I was much younger and much sillier, one day I walked into a music store and on a lark bought an alto saxophone. I never played saxophone in my life, but this shiny sparkly golden instrument just grabbed me and said “Take me home, I’m yours!”
So I did. But much to my disappointment, I soon realized that learning how to play alto saxophone was much harder than I hoped for. Back then, access to free tutorials on how to play a brass instrument was very sparse. I tried to teach myself how to play it, but did not get very far. Eventually, I just gave that saxophone to my son.
Here is, from my archives, one and only recording of me playing that sax while overdubbing myself on acoustic guitar and some percussion. Listening back, it sounds like I was hollering at the full moon. Pointless.
