I think we have culturally refused to learn more about the animals and get closer to them for one simple reason — we wouldn’t be able to eat them once we realize how similar to us they may be. Hunger has been a constant companion to human societies throughout the ages, so we were forced (and still are) to find sustenance in eating animals. Will that ever change?
