While playing in a band, we often hit a plateau that puts us in a state that I call creative stasis. It’s a dervish-like swirling, a point where it feels like the time has stopped its unstoppable march. And yet, despite the static nature and the immobile feeling of that plateau, there is hectic unfolding. It’s like a spiral. One part of you going to the place where the other part of you has just been. And it tends to feel euphoric, ecstatic, or just uplifting.
Here is one such plateau, or stasis, that we hit while recording our take on Dave Brubeck’s famous number “Take 5”. The question is, how long can it last? How long should it last? Listen and let us know.
