Yeah, his comparison is weak. Comparing Canada to the US is like comparing a mouse to an elephant. I think you didn’t elucidate much by spending time trying to debunk Canada. Instead, try to convince us that the US isn’t as bad as Davis portrayed it to be. But not by comparing it to Canada. Try to compare the US to some fairly advanced Western European country, and to explain to us how is America better than (or at least, not worse than, for example), France or Germany or some Scandinavian countries.
